"WE HAVE COME TO WORSHIP HIM" AT THE AQUINAS YOUTH RALLY
"This type of day can be the catalyst for increased participation in Mass, a greater appreciation of our faith, and a deepening of belief in His Eucharistic presence. We want the children to experience joy in their faith and a love for the Church," said Sister Maria Christi, O.P., principal of St. Thomas Aquinas Regional School. The Youth Rally included Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, spiritual talks, grade-level activities, and Benediction. Students led an International Rosary in English, French, Spanish, Mandinka, from Gambia, Africa, and Tagalog, from the Phillipines. Brother Pius and Brother Thomas Joseph from the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC, led an Adoration Eucharistic Meditation. Throughout the day, songs of adoration were accompanied by the musical talents of the George Mason University Praise and Worship Band. Families were created for the school-wide Youth Rally consisting of two students from each grade level, 7th and 8th grade family "heads", and a teacher. Sixth grade student Michael Kepler said "It was a pretty awesome day and we should do this again next year!" |
